When ADHD is not treated, there are a number of risks that can develop. These include:
For this reason, an ADHD diagnosis can be life changing for a child or teen. The proper diagnosis, ADHD assessment, and GP/consultant report will help the child and the family to take action and improve the patient’s quality of life.
Not only will the child have a better understanding of themselves, but they will be able to optimise their learning experience and embrace their neurodiversity going forward.
A comprehensive assessment and diagnosis of ADHD from Diverse Diagnostics will help a young person get the appropriate support with the possibility of medical treatment. Our doctors have broad experience working with children with ADHD in Scotland and will help you with the correct diagnosis and make recommendations for the next steps to take.

Our ADHD Online Assessment Process
We know how patients and their families can struggle with symptoms of ADHD, so we focus on helping families reach a place where it can be managed comfortably.
Our private child ADHD assessment in Scotland provides a full assessment and a complete diagnostic GP report by one of our psychiatric consultants for children and adolescents.
The Diverse Diagnostics online ADHD testing process for children aged 6–18 years includes:
Initial Assessment with a child and adolescent psychiatrist
Formal ADHD screening questionnaires and school reports sent out to appropriate professionals following the initial assessment
Developmental history with a child and adolescent psychiatrist
Diagnostic feedback session with a child and adolescent psychiatrist
When we diagnose a patient after a private assessment for ADHD, we will provide a detailed report and advise the family on the next steps and treatment options available to them.

Medication & Treatment Plan
An ADHD assessment & treatment plan go hand in hand. Treating ADHD symptoms in children is essential for ensuring they live happy and productive lives.
Our treatment options include general advice after the child is assessed, prescriptions under Shared Care, private ADHD therapy sessions with a therapist for ongoing support, and 6-week parenting programmes to help parents understand neurodiversity. We can also advise you on other options for ADHD support in Scotland, such as support groups.
Shared Care with your GP
When medical treatment is required, we provide prescriptions only under Shared Care with your General Physician (GP). This means that your GP will need to agree prior to the initial medication appointment to provide NHS prescriptions.
If the patient needs medical treatment, a referral letter will be written to their GP (public or private) asking for Shared Care. Because many ADHD medications need a physical examination before they can be prescribed, blood pressure, height, weight, and heart rate measurements will be taken and recorded in the clinical notes at Diverse Diagnostics.
All medication reviews will be under the consultant at Diverse Diagnostics, who will be responsible for the prescription and dosage specifications.
Private prescriptions will be available from the 4th of January of 2023.
