Our Adult ASD Assessment Process
At our clinic, we offer a comprehensive and personalised assessment process to ensure accurate diagnosis and effective individualistic treatment recommendations. Here’s an overview of our assessment process which takes place over an 8-week period:
1. Initial Assessment
The first step is an initial assessment with one of our experienced psychiatrists. During this session, you will have the opportunity to discuss your concerns, experiences, and get to know you, as well as performing a mental health screening.
2. Neurodevelopmental Screening
To evaluate your neurodevelopmental profile, our team utilizes a combination of validated assessment tools, interviews, and questionnaires. These tools cover various domains, including cognitive abilities, social functioning, communication skills, and sensory processing. The second appointment will be a neurodevelopmental screening, after assessing all relevant questionnaires, to explore your history.
3. ADOS Assessment
We believe in a multidisciplinary approach to your assessment to verify and ensure there is no stone unturned in completing your assessment. During our ADOS portion of the Adult ASD Assessment our clinical nurse specialist, and neurodevelopmental therapist will assess the patient’s social communication in a face-to-face scenario-based assessment.
4. Diagnostic Feedback
Following the assessment, the last appointment will be a feedback session. You will receive a detailed report summarizing the findings and diagnostic impressions. In a subsequent feedback session, our psychiatrist will discuss the results with you, answer any questions you may have, and provide treatment recommendations tailored to your specific needs.
