What is an Educational Psychology Assessment?
An educational psychology assessment is a comprehensive evaluation that aims to assess an individual's cognitive abilities, academic skills, and social-emotional functioning. For individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) or Specific Learning Disorders (e.g. dyslexia, dyspraxia), these assessments are particularly valuable in tailoring educational strategies to their specific needs. Our educational psychologist gathers information about behaviour, attitudes, attention, and concentration, all of which can impact an individual’s learning. These factors can affect motivation, willingness to take on challenges, and how a child approaches a task and structures their responses.
Why Choose Our Educational Psychology Assessment?
Personalised Approach: We understand that every individual with a neurodevelopmental disorder is unique. Our assessments are tailored to each person, taking into account their strengths, challenges, and learning style.
Experienced Psychologist: Our experienced educational psychologist specialises in working with individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders. They have extensive knowledge of the latest assessment tools and methodologies to ensure accurate and reliable results.
Comprehensive Evaluation: Our assessment covers a wide range of domains, including cognitive abilities, academic achievement, executive functions, social skills, and emotional well-being. Assessment tools include including WISC-IV, WIAT-III UK, CTOPP, DASH, (TOWRE), and DRAW A MAN. The Wechsler Intelligence Scale, Fourth Edition (WISC-IV) is the primary assessment used to measure general cognitive abilities. It provides information about a child or young person's overall IQ, as well as their specific intellectual strengths and needs. While the general IQ score is important, the learning profile that identifies strengths and needs is the most valuable information.
Identification of Strengths: We not only focus on areas of difficulty but also highlight the individual's strengths and talents. Identifying strengths can empower individuals and guide them toward fields where they can excel.
Evidence-Based Recommendations: Based on the assessment results, we provide evidence-based recommendations and practical strategies to support the individual's learning and overall development.
The Assessment Process
Our educational psychologist assessments cost £985. This is paid in two payments, the first a £100 deposit to secure the appointment slot. The remaining balance of £895 is then required 48 hours before your initial consultation.
The process includes:
1. An initial 30-minute telephone consultation with our educational psychologist, to discuss your concerns and provide an assessment route.
2. A full assessment, including one-to-one testing with our educational psychologist, as well as observations, interviews, and questionnaires. This takes place in Perth or can also be completed at the patient's home or school for an additional cost.
3. A comprehensive report, outlining the results of the assessment, as well as recommendations for support and intervention.
4. A feedback session with our educational psychologist, to discuss the assessment findings and answer any questions you may have.
