Autism in Children:
Early Intervention is Key

Living with Autism presents unique challenges for children. Symptoms often manifest differently, making early intervention crucial. Many children develop differently, and Autism exists on a wide spectrum. Research conducted by the National Institutes of Health, shows that early diagnosis of and interventions for autism are more likely to have major long-term positive effects on symptoms and later skills.

Here are some signs to watch for if you'd like to learn more about your child's development:

  • Social Interaction:
    • They may avoid eye contact or seem withdrawn.
    • They might struggle to understand social cues or emotions in others.
    • Delayed interest in playing with other children.
  • Communication:
    • Limited speech or repetitive phrases are sometimes seen in children with Autism.
    • They may seem to understand instructions inconsistently.
    • Unusual ways of expressing themselves, like lining up toys or fixating on specific topics, can be present.
  • Repetitive Behaviours:
    • They might engage in repetitive movements like flapping hands or rocking.
    • They may insist on strict routines and get upset by changes.
    • Intense interests in specific subjects are common.

Remember, these are just some signs, and every child develops differently.
